YouTube, experienced technical difficulties today, Thursday, March 25, 2010. It was reported by numerous users that an error was displayed stating that there was an internal server error. Users from all around the world experienced similar situations. This comes a day after the highly used Wikipedia system was down due to an overheating issue. There has been no comment from the folks at Google. Just seems to be a bit curious since some of these systems are experiencing difficulties with a variety of highly used sites. The system was down for approximately an hour to an hour and a half for many users. This also affected those that were looking to link a variety of YouTube videos to their website content.
Google purchased YouTube back in 2006 for $1.65 billion. A spokesman for the company said that they were looking into it and apologized to any users that were unable to use the site. This site is utilized by millions to look at some of their favorite videos as well as be able to upload their own. This comes at a time as Google is involved in a freedom of speech issue in China and may be removing the Google browser and search engine from the Chinese market. It appears as though the issue of freedom of speech, and the issue of privacy will become under additional scrutiny as Internet users for a variety of social media’s and outlets continue to rise for dramatically.
YouTube users are allowed to post just about any kind of video, as well as view any of the videos they wish. Many times these videos are also used by SEO marketers, such as The Content Authority in order to further develop their web-based content. Many popular posting sites such as WordPress and Squidoo allow you to post videos to further explain your product or content. Most of the YouTube users stated that they were able to sign back on. However, there were also reports that some areas were still affected by the internal errors.
